Minimally Invasive Surgeries
Minimally
invasive or 'key-hole' surgery can be performed using laparoscopy. This
has the advantages of reduced postoperative pain, a shorter stay in
hospital, a smaller incision and therefore a better cosmetic result
than conventional surgery.
Drs. Schwartz and Bansal are considered a subspecialists with expertise in minimally
invasive laparoscopic techniques for the treatment of many
gynecological cancers.
Certain laparascopic procedures can now be performed with the state-of-the-art da Vinci Surgical System. Both Drs. Schwartz and Bansal have extensive experience with the da Vinci System and are pleased to discuss its use in specific cases.
Procedures such as radical hysterectomy and pelvic and para-aortic
lymph node removal can now be performed with small incisions and with
much less postoperative pain and shorter hospital stays. While
laparoscopic surgery is not ideal for all patients, feel free to ask
our office for more information regarding these state-of-the-art
techniques.
